Charlie Watts has revealed that he wants The Rolling Stones to get back
out on the road for their 50th anniversary.

Despite closing in on their 70th birthday, the members of The Rolling
Stones show no signs of slowing down. Remaining an enormous concert
attraction, the band’s 2007 tour ‘A Bigger Bang’ raked in an enormous
$360 million.

Martin Scorcese shot a concert film, with fans across the globe
testifying to the band’s continuing vitality as a touring act.

With their 50th anniversary looming, speculation concerning a new tour
has dogged The Rolling Stones. The band began rehearsals late last
year, but it is not known how formal these practises actually were.

Speaking to 6Music, drummer Charlie Watts explained that he wants to
see the band get back out on the road. “It would be lovely next year to
do some shows because it will be fifty years” he said. “Ronnie plays, I
still play, Mick sings, he can do it anyway, I think Keith is doing
some records.”

Continuing, the drummer revealed some of the stresses and strains which
lay behind their recent rehearsals. “Anyway it would be great if we
did, we are just getting to an age where it’s getting a bit difficult
to get it together and it’s such a bloody performance getting us
together.”

Meanwhile, Ronnie Wood recently dropped by Absolute Radio to act as
guest host. Playing ‘Paint It Black’ the guitarist explained that The
Rolling Stones are always afraid that Keith Richards will blow the
opening.

“Every time we play this live on stage Keith, when he starts it, we
always have this moment of hesitation where we don’t know if he’s going
to get the intro right or not. It’s very funny because everybody takes
a deep breath and sort of ‘Oh no, I hope it’s going to work’.”

“He’s always managed to struggle through it, but whether it’s the right
timing or not, just stumbles into it, and we look at each other and
Charlie goes boom boom boom, you know, he has to bring in the tempo,
and he’s usually cracking up laughing, he does it because he’s like
‘How did we get this number off the ground?’”

The Rolling Stones have yet to confirm any plans for a 50th anniversary
tour.

On Monday Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Regroup Possible was a
top story. Here is the recap: (Gibson) Keith Richards has tossed
out some hope to fans wanting to see The Rolling Stones reconvene
next year for a 50th anniversary tour.

In a just-published interview with GQ, Richards said down-time from
the Stones is a bit like “being in purgatory.” “Next year is sort
of up for grabs,” he said. “It’s almost an overwhelming power
- it’ll be 50 years. So there’s that sort of pressure.
If I can pull them together, I’m there.”

Richards also brushed aside less-than-flattering revelations he
made about Mick Jagger in his book, Life. “Life’s life,” he said.

“I really don’t want to go into it anymore, because what is in the
book is in the book, and the fact is that Mick and I still talk
and are still working together. So maybe that was another balance
that needed to be sorted out. Mick and me, two guys divided by
love.”

Richards is currently rehearsing new material with his other band,
the X-Pensive Winos. “I hardly played [guitar] at all for two
years ,” he revealed. “I’m sort of basically recovering from the
book, and this is my therapy at the moment.
In the process of doing it, my chops are coming back.”

The Rolling Stones “Some Girls Live In Texas ’78″ will have a specialtheatrical screening on Tuesday, October 18.
The never-before-seen Rolling Stones concert was filmed live in Fort Worth, Texas on July 18, 1978.

The Rolling Stones’ Some Girls Tour is widely believed to be one of the bands’ greatest concerts, largely because it was in many ways back to basics both in musical and staging terms.

It meant a return to a mixture of classic Stones numbers (“Tumbling Dice,” “Honky Tonk Woman”, “Brown Sugar”, and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”) mixed with blues numbers and Chuck Berry covers, as well as including a large number of songs from the newly released Some Girls LP, including “Miss You” and “Beast of Burden”.

In addition to this never-before-seen concert event, fans will get to see an exclusive interview with Mick Jagger, where he will reflect on memories of this great concert and its significance in the band’s history.

Mick Jagger leaves a London office after meeting with Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood. All four members of the Rolling Stones were photographed exiting a building in London yesterday, fueling rumors that the band is planning a 50th anniversary tour for 2012.

The band is unlikely to confirm anything for the foreseeable future, partially because Mick Jagger wants all attention focused on his new band SuperHeavy.

The Stones haven’t played together since their Bigger Bang tour wrapped in August of 2007.

When we asked Jagger about a possible Stones tour this past May he just chuckled. “I don’t have any announcement to make at the moment,” he said. “I’m just, uh, ya know…just doing this [SuperHeavy] right now.”

Keith Richards has lead a ‘Life’ well lived. He’s already cemented his place as one of the most revered guitarists in rock history thanks to his position in the Rolling Stones.

Now the axe slinger can consider himself a truly successful author, as his autobiography has sold over one million copies since its release. That’s not shocking, since Richards has plenty of sordid, rock ‘n’ roll stories and scintillating tales in his arsenal, which fans no doubt wanted to read about.

That 564-page memoir, simply titled ‘Life,’ came out in October of last year and moved an impressive amount of books since then. It spent two weeks nestled in the plum, No.1 position on the New York Times hard-cover non-fiction best seller list. That healthy sales tally also makes ‘Life’ one of the best-selling rock autobiographies of all time.
Richards reportedly pocketed a cool $7 million advance to pen the book, which was published by Little, Brown & Co. Judging by the figures, the book appears to have been a win-win and a moneymaker for all involved.

Sir Mick Jagger has written a script with David Bowie for a rock movie, according to a UK report.

The Rolling Stones legend has based the plot around rock’n'roll managers in the 1960s and he’s keen to land comedy actors to take the lead roles, reports Britain’s The Sun.

“Mick has had the script in the bag for years. He has gone back to it again recently and feels now is the time to get it out there. Mick has a few famous comedians in mind to star and is starting to sound them out,” a source told the publication,

“The script is full of stuff from back in the day, which Mick and the band witnessed first hand or heard about on their travels.”

Jagger is also reportedly keen to make an appearance in the film, which he’s said to be working on with his own production company Jagged Films: “He’s well up for a cameo role, to show he’s not the serious businessman a lot of people think he is all the time. He’s done a lot of comedy appearances on television in the United States and it always goes down well.”

(story by Ellen Barnes|03.11.2011
Gibson.com is an official news provider for the Day in Rock.)

Former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor will write a book about his time with The Rolling Stones, he told BANG Showbiz. Taylor joined the band in 1969 after the sudden death of Brian Jones and remained with them until 1974.

“I want to write a book that is honest and truthful, especially about myself,” said Taylor, 62.

Of his time with The Stones, Taylor said, “I kind of loved it. I loved it and I hated it. The more successful the Stones became the more seriously they took themselves.”

Taylor also plans to address the impetus behind his leaving the band all those years ago.

“[Why I left will] be in my book,” he said. “It certainly wasn’t because I didn’t like the rest of the band, or had a huge falling out, or anything like that. It’s much more personal than that.”

On Wednesday night, at the Boogie for Stu concert at London’s Ambassador Theatre, Taylor spoke further about the book.

“I jot down my memories all the time and have done for years in case I ever lose my mind,” he said. “I don’t want to write the kind of book that will shock people, about the scandals, sex, drugs and rock and roll because Keith’s done that with his book … It’s a hard book to write. My time will come but it’s not yet.”

(Story copied from Musicrooms.net)

The Rolling Stones rocker is famed for the lavish parties he threw during his
heyday, which sometimes saw police called to them. He recently stayed at the
Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, but was adamant he wanted a room which
was free from sound. He eventually agreed to stay in the Presidential Suite,
but shocked workers as he was so well-behaved.
“[He] made it quite clear that he demanded absolute quiet – and we never heard
a peep out of him. No loud music, no wild parties… nothing!” a source told National Enquirer.
Mick was so keen to have a tranquil break he even asked to be moved when
workman began making noise near his room. He eventually settled in a bungalow
in the establishment’s garden, where he managed to get a good rest.
Mick’s hotel etiquette has been revealed in the past. Several years ago it was
reported the star asks for all windows in the rooms he stays in to be blacked
out, so he can sleep.
“Apparently he doesn’t like to be woken up by natural light so we had to go
and find some tape to make sure it was dark,” a source said.

We never thought we’d hear this but the Rolling Stones will be celebrating their 50th anniversary next year. And according to Triple M music reporter Nui Te Koha the original bad boys of rock n’ roll may grace us with their presence next year with an Aussie tour!

“Rolling Stones, 2012. [It] looks like [it will be] stadium shows. They want to play big and they want to go out with a bang,” said Nui on Triple M Melbourne’s Hot Breakfast this morning.

Triple M’s Eddie McGuire said that from what he’s heard the shows will be massive.

“I’ve heard a few sneaky things about what could be going on. It could be absolutely unbelievable,” he said.

While, Mieke added she saw Mick Jagger on the recent Grammy Awards and they’d lost none of their magic.

“Mick Jagger is still in fantastic form and he was one of the absolute highlights of the Grammys the other night. All the young whippersnappers up there being nominated… he got up there and did his ‘Mick’ thing. They were in absolute awe,” she said.

Live Nation Australia look likely to be the promoters of the Australian tour in conjunction with Paul Dainty who has toured them many times.

This could be the last chance we ever get to see this giant rock band ever again!
