Keith Richards Plays Captain Teague in ‘Pirates’

The movie (which is the fourth film in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series) features a cameo by Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards as Captain Teague, the father of Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp. “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” directed by Rob Marshall, arrives in cinemas on May 20, 2011.
Richards first appeared in the role in 2007’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” the third film in the series. Richards was not featured in that movie’s trailers because Disney wanted to surprise the public on how Richards would look in the film.
However, Richards could be in the trailer for “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” Disney is not revealing what will be in the trailer.
As previously reported, Disney has shot down false rumors that the company was thinking about replacing Richards in “On Stranger Tides.” There had been groundless speculation that Disney would cut Richards out of the film because of his tales of debauchery in his memoir “Life.”
